A pinafore is like an apron but better.
I love my Orkney linen pinafore. It has two deep pockets so your iPhone doesn't fall out and doesn't have to mix with your keys. It wraps around to protect your clothes at the side as well as the front.
Go ahead, dry your hands on it, or pick up the corners to hold things in — apples, laundry, toys. Pocket your hair band or a letter to post so you don't need to remember. You will look competent and artisanal without channeling a crazed Betty Draper.
Material: 100% Linen. Heavyweight "Orkney"
The Adult size is a "One Size Fits Most" type of item, but we do have a Petite (best for 5'4" and under) and a Large which is truly generous.
petite size (5" shorter than regular )
regular size (0-16)
large size (18-22)
Care: Machine wash, dry outside for preference or tumble dry on medium or hot, do not over-dry. Dampen fabric to make wrinkles disappear.
We wear them all day long - for pockets and cover-up after yoga, while cooking and eating, and doing all the messy, engrossing, creative things that make living satisfying.
Adult size fits almost anyone as the crossover at the back adjusts from vertical to X, but we added Large so our sisters 20+ don’t feel left out. You can also request extra-long straps if you are between sizes: they ease tightness in shoulders and bust. Don’t order Large unless you weigh more than 200lbs. Petite Adult is 5" shorter, for those 5'4" and under.
More than a pinny — it's a way of life.
See Gabriela, putting on her pinny. I tell the story how I found the pinafore's unique design. Watch this video.

"I ordered my pinafore from you last year, and have now made 3 Skillshare classes wearing it. I have been doing demonstration portions in the kitchen, and I wear your pinafore so I will, as you say, "look competent and artisanal without channelling a crazed Betty Draper."

This was taken by one of our customers today. Rosa, Stephanie, Ana, me Adriana and Karina. We are missing Marilyn tho I will try to send another picture soon. When I saw this picture I rushed to the plant store to replace those sad little things near the door. Our customers are loving the staff's new look. Thanks so much. We needed a boost in the dregs of this heat. I covet your sweet bay breezes. Peace and pinafores."

Our friend La Contessa and her fantastic cake.
"Thought you might enjoy this pic of my pinny. She is a WARRIOR! The rascals will be home from college and other parts of the world on Thursday. She (my pinny, of course) and I have been doing what I love best…baking! (Well, if I can't be gardening anyway). She'll likely get washed tomorrow evening. The beauty of it is she'll look brand new.
I LOVE your products! I sleep in the white Orkney sheets and am slowly building my collection. Thanks for a quality product."

"Here is a photo my husband took of me wearing my favorite pinafore. It is so cute and so comfortable — and easy to get on and off. I love it so much I am ordering another."
"I just started a small business offering handmade, custom flavored biscotti (named Haughty Biscotti of Charleston) and want to present a professional yet relaxed image. As it happens, I have personally enjoyed and given your pinafores to others over the years. So it was natural that I chose to wear your pinafore in my signature photo and when representing Haughty Biscotti in public. Here are some photos. I often get asked about them and am pleased to send my customers your way!"

"Hi Tricia, I've been wearing my pinafore since it arrived two weeks ago. It's given me a chance to realize why I really enjoy wearing it. Unlike aprons that tie at the waist, the pinafore is loose and not binding which is very comfortable. Who needs more tight stuff around their waist anyway?"
~ Anna Fairbrother
"Photo of me sporting my new black pinafore at our local farmer 's market. LOVE IT!!! Thanks, Tricia!"
"I used to have old clothes I would wear to do chores around the house, now I do chores in style! It is surprisingly very durable as well. Every guy needs a Pinny in my opinion!"
"My pinafore arrived just in time for the Valentines day rush! I have been lucky enough to be floral designer for 30+ years. The large pockets are great for my tools and such and it is so comfortable. I have already received many compliments on how great it looks. It comes home with me every day, as it is great in the kitchen as well as the garden where I spend most of my free time. "

"We live in a 1784 farmhouse, grow and put up our own foods with plenty of goats and chickens for company. Days are spent in my rough linen pinafore, and nights enjoying the luxury of magnificent linen sheets."

"We moved to our rural home just a few years ago and in doing so we have become much more connected to the land and all its inhabitants. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't notice the surrounding fields changing as growing season is in earnest. It seems that almost as soon as planting is done, the winter wheat is harvested. My pinafore is now a wardrobe mainstay. I have worn an apron as long as I can remember, and it probably has something to do with my French grandmother wearing her full apron."

"Hi! I stay really busy multitasking between the hot shop and the retail store. I love new my aprons! The aprons protect me from the heat of the furnace (2150 degrees) and I use the pockets for my tools and telephone. Here is a photo of my husband and I working in the hot shop making blown glass pumpkins."

"I received my pinafore two days ago and just adore it! I'm a rug hooker and designer. I work with hand dyed wool hooked onto linen. I also design and hook handbags. Love all things fiber, and totally smitten with this line of gorgeous hand made linen products. Looking forward to adding some pieces to my own home!"
"Dear Tricia — I have been meaning to write ever since I opened my package from California — am delighted with my linen pinny — I have attached a couple of photos so you can see me at work with it on! I am a potter working predominantly in porcelain and I can't tell you how nice my pottery looks alongside your linen! I am also attaching an image of my work so you can see what I do. I work here in the Cotswolds and have been working as a potter for the last 18 years having started out in Sydney Australia. Beautiful product Tricia — well done on your wonderful website and all your other gorgeous linen products. I will return as the colleague I work with now wants one as well."

"Dear Tricia, First, let me tell you how much I've enjoyed my new pinafore these past few weeks... I don't know how I ever made it without one. It was a birthday present to myself (something I never do) and not only was it money well spent, but it is put to good use almost every day here on my little farm in Tennessee!
Here it is keeping stray wool fibers off my clothes while I spin. It works wonderfully catching the loose wool, then one swipe with a lint roller and it's clean again."
~ Paula Fraker
"Natural, simple, down to earth...describe both me and my Rough Linen pinafore. I'm a multi-media collage artist, creating original creations from vintage materials and leftover remnants and detritus... I put to good use the stuff that others throw away. From the moment I saw the pinafore, I knew that it would be perfect for me...I am not one to fuss with clothes so its easy lines and refined construction won me over. As you look around my workshop, its clear that natural elements and neutral colors reflect my style. I like to be very comfortable when I'm composing collages...the large pockets are great for holding my scissors and glue...and my rag towel. I have always loved natural fibers - wool, cotton, linen - in both my home and my studio...nothing artificial here...my pinafore is a perfect fit in so many ways..."

"We live on a farm in rural Ontario. I love my Rough Linen products as I find them luxurious and practical."
"Hi Tricia, I love my pinafore! I bought it to protect my clothing while painting. Its the perfect coverup, so stylish and "artsy". I just attended a workshop and got compliments from all the other artists. Thank you so much for making such a quality piece!"
"Hey Tricia,I recently ordered a pinafore from you. I am wearing it today as I have everyday since its arrival! I adore it! It is the perfect topper to the creative souls wardrobe. I had my daughter home this weekend and we went outside on this beautiful NC day to do bit of a photo shoot. Of course I was wearing my Rough Linen pinafore! You requested pictures, so I am sending along a few. I am an artist and I will be using some of the photos taken in my pinafore on my blog and marketing materials. Thank you for a great product…simple, creative, character!"

The pinafore is for everyone - Men, women and children of all ages, shapes and sizes, each with different passions, styles and hobbies.
My son Felix makes the most wonderful frittata.
From Elaine, who couldn't wait to sent me this lovely photo the day after Xmas:
"I bought my pinafore earlier this year to wear on Christmas Day. I did, and I loved it! I received so many compliments from our guests, even my twenty two year old granddaughter. Thank you again for such a great product."
Guess who has a new baby? Amy is the wife of Simeon, who went to school with my son, Felix. That's why she's here in my house. "Amy, we don't have any photos of ladies size 22. May I …" I grab my iPhone and snap away. Amy's reward is a large pinny — natural, white or black. Decisions, decisions. "Can I have all three?" "Nope, just one, that's the deal." "OK, black, I love it." "You look great."
Elissa is 5'3 and rocking her mini-length Petite pinny
Customers everywhere send me photos. Here's a group having Xmas fun. Two charcoal and one natural pinafore, and a maverick in our apron.
From Seattle street style blogger Dana Landon:
"I saw Rebecca from way down the street and was so excited to stop her and ask about her outfit and style. This is just like something I would wear: Unique fabrics, unexpected proportions and well worn (loved) pieces paired with structured pieces. We discussed our mutual love for all of these things and Rebecca also told me about her pinafore designed by Rough Linen by Tricia Rose. You guys have to check out this company. You may soon be plotting how to save up enough to deck your bed out in these linens… that's what happened to me when I saw her stuff."
"I ordered your black linen pinafore. Being a calligrapher for 30 years, I am always finding black ink stains on everything I wear. I'm loving my new pinafore and so afraid I'll rub a hole feeling that luxurious linen! Thank you, Tricia, for my penner's pinny and I'm so impressed with the mitered corners. No raw seams anywhere. What they say it true...here's magic in those seams!"
"My husband loved his "chef's apron" (I don't dare call it anything else), but he hurt his foot just before Father's Day and can't stand in the kitchen to bake his delicious bread or make strawberry jam, not for a while, anyway."
~ Nancy Claiborne
