Tricia Rose founded Rough Linen in 2009.
Raised in Australia surrounded by grandparents and aunts who all sewed and knitted, Tricia has a long history with textiles. On a trip back to her grandmother’s stone cottage in Scotland, Tricia discovered a very old linen pillowslip. Intrigued by its homespun texture and elemental magnetism, Tricia learned that it had been made by her grandmother's grandmother, woven from her own flax. The connection was real. She was holding it right there in her hands. It took a long time for Tricia to discover Orkney, the unique linen fabric that evoked the same qualities, texture, and weight as that pillowslip in that stone cottage in Scotland. Once she did, there was no hesitation at all. Rough Linen was born.
Tricia places linen on the same level of goodness and comfort as freshly baked bread, the warmth of an open fire, and the pleasure of shared company.
