Try an Orkney linen bread bag if you don't want your precious loaf of bread kicking around in a paper or plastic wrapping, even more so if you bake your own.
I've heard claims that bread stays fresh longer in linen but mine doesn't hang around enough to find out. Two sizes, for round loaves or longer ones.
(If you are serious about keeping your bread as fresh as it possibly can be, use a three-pronged approach. Put the bread into a linen bag so the crust stays dry, then in an air-tight enclosure so it doesn’t dry out, refrigerate to preserve it.)
Material: Woven from 100% European Flax. Heavyweight Orkney 7.7oz/sq.yd

Definitely worth getting and using, if you like the crust on your homemade bread! Bought this for my sourdough bread boule. I read other reviews and comments and followed their advice - keep the fresh bread in the linen bag on the first day. On the 2nd day (until it's gone), keep the bread in the linen bag and put it into a ziploc. It keeps the bread fresh, and the linen keeps the crust fresh and crisp. It's better than just a ziploc - which is what I used for the few weeks until I found the linen bag. Ziploc alone lets the crust go soft.
I love making bread and find that linen bags are excellent storage and transport. I have tried plastic bags, plastic containers, paper bags, and cotton towels. I like the linen the best and they are easy to clean in the washing machine with gentle detergent. The also make a great gift (I purchased for my Aunt and she never heard of linen bread bags before). I also use the bag for other items, such as leftover waffles. Thank you Rough Linen.
If it is used as a bread bag alone the bread will dry out. It must be contained in a way to prevent this. I just used the plastic bag that the bread came in and then stored it in the linen bag. It does state that the bread needs to be contained in way that the bread is not left in the linen bag alone. Otherwise the item is beautiful and enhances anyone's kitchen!!!
I love the look of my bread bags but unconvinced they’ve actually keep anything fresher. Would like to have an even smaller bag available as we are just a family of two.
