They satisfy a longing for simplicity, quality, and comfort, and they do this in a way that feels good in every way — from trusting our craft and believing in our ethical practices, to feeling that unmistakable freshness of linen against skin. (And yes, we believe linen has almost magical properties.)
Rough Linen’s spirit originates with the story of a family heirloom —homespun linen from a stone cottage in Scotland, come to light four generations later. The thread from this time and place to what we create today is unbroken.
Together with our team of in-house sewers, we bring our love for timeless linen to a world which can use what it stands for - strength, continuity, craft. It is goodness you can feel, in your own hands. Made to be lived with — and loved.

We champion artistry of materials and process, and take pride in what we create. We find inspiration in provenance and history. Tricia Rose founded Rough Linen in 2009.
Raised in the United Kingdom surrounded by grandparents and aunts who all sewed and knitted, Tricia has a long history with textiles.
Like true linen lovers, we not only eat, sleep and bathe with linen, we wear it, too!
In 2018, we launched our Touch collection - born out of many lives, well lived. We are a wonderful circle of collaborators, each person brings something to the mix, and is valued for who they are, what they do and where they come from. We poured our hearts, our minds, our senses into this capsule collection of thoughtful, effortless clothing, designed with intention: to bring the same clean, simple shapes and delightful detailing that we’re known for to the realm of clothing.
