Try an Orkney linen bread bag if you don't want your precious loaf of bread kicking around in a paper or plastic wrapping, even more so if you bake your own.
Give it a touch of luxury with natural, off-white, black or charcoal. I've heard claims that bread stays fresh longer in linen but mine doesn't hang around enough to find out. Two sizes, for round loaves or longer ones.
(If you are serious about keeping your bread as fresh as it possibly can be, use a three-pronged approach. Put the bread into a linen bag so the crust stays dry, then in an air-tight enclosure so it doesn’t dry out, refrigerate to preserve it.)
Material: 100% Linen. Heavyweight "Orkney"
Round: 12" square
Long: 5" x 20" rectangle
Care: Machine wash with a small amount of gentle detergent, not Tide. Tumble dry on hot or medium, and remove from the dryer while still very slightly damp so wrinkles do not set. Shake the fabric out flat and smooth it with your hands. If you can dry outside, let fresh air and sun work their magic.
The linen bread bag works really well with my homemade sourdough loaves.
I believe this product is great and does what it should . I use it for artisan sourdough bread and it is great. I am thinking that those whose bread went hard were using it for bread without the thick crust that sourdough has.
Love these bags. Have used the round loaf bag for bread. Used another round one for a shoe bag while traveling. Nice looking on my counter and beautifully made.
