    Orkney Linen Bread Bag

    12 reviews
    vintage blue

Try an Orkney linen bread bag if you don't want your precious loaf of bread kicking around in a paper or plastic wrapping, even more so if you bake your own.

I've heard claims that bread stays fresh longer in linen but mine doesn't hang around enough to find out. Two sizes, for round loaves or longer ones.

(If you are serious about keeping your bread as fresh as it possibly can be, use a three-pronged approach. Put the bread into a linen bag so the crust stays dry, then in an air-tight enclosure so it doesn’t dry out, refrigerate to preserve it.)

    Product Information

    Material: 100% Linen. Heavyweight "Orkney"
    Round: 12" square
    Long: 5" x 20" rectangle
Care: Machine wash with a small amount of gentle detergent, not Tide. Tumble dry on hot or medium, and remove from the dryer while still very slightly damp so wrinkles do not set. Shake the fabric out flat and smooth it with your hands. If you can dry outside, let fresh air and sun work their magic.

      Homemade Bread

It’s a great way to keep my homemade bread! Over night and it’s still crispy and not dried out. Way better than a paper sac!.

      Orkney linen bread bag

As with all of Rough Linen products I come to be in a position that I can’t do without. Love the bread bags, even use one for transport smaller knitting projects. Another quality product from RL!! Thank you!!

      I like the bag, but...

I like the item and it looked pretty on my counter, but the bread I stored in it became hard much sooner than when I stored in a ziplock bag. I would love to find a way to use this bag without my bread getting hard! Any suggestions?

      Works in the freezer too

This bag is ideal for storing homemade bread in the refrigerator. I store an unsliced loaf in the bag and then place the bag in a stainless steel container and it keeps well in the refrigerator for about a week. By chance if there’s bread remaining at the end of the week - the remaining bread can be sliced, placed back in the bag and then placed in the steel container and stored in the freezer.
