Here is our robe. Ta-da!
The robe is for relaxation, contemplation, batheing, withdrawing from the world to a sanctuary, for ten precious minutes or a heavenly weekend morning (even better if you can steal it on Monday).
(see size chart)
These were our guidelines for making our version of the perfect robe: A flattering, smart collar which frames your face and fits to your neck. The body is modest, but not voluminous – you want to be able to get to both pockets. Length is mid-calf or a little longer depending on your height, you don't want to step on it. Gaping sleeves annoy me, so the sleeve is neatly fitted to the wrist and the cuff can be turned back. No more dipping your cuffs into the marmalade.
Material: 100% Linen. Mid-weight "St. Barts"
Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large
Care: Machine wash with a small amount of gentle detergent, not Tide. Tumble dry on hot or medium, and remove from the dryer while still very slightly damp so wrinkles do not set. Shake the fabric out flat and smooth it with your hands. If you can dry outside, let fresh air and sun work their magic.
Love my linen robe!
After months of eyeing this, my closest friend surprised me with it for my birthday. To address some common things mentioned about this robe: •As far as fit...it's a robe. You do not need it tailored. It ties at the waist, leaving the drape of the fabric to follow your body like a loose sheath. •The colour is perfect. It is white, yes, but the way the light catches the robe at night gives it the slight tint of an off-white evening gown. •The entire design of the robe is functional. Short sleeves? Yes, but that is good - I am wearing this most often in the morning, when I am washing my face, making breakfast, brushing my teeth - in other words, when I would need to roll up the sleeves anyway. I am 5'9", 125 IB, and a small is really comfortable, cozy, and functional for me. •I live in a place that is hot year around with 100% humidity. This fabric has that incredible feel of orkney, but the lightness of St. Barts. Ideal for this weather. I feel as though the length of this review all but screams it, but just in case the message didn't come through clearly...I LOVE THIS ROBE. This robe was more hyped than Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, and I was still not prepared for how awesome actually is. My only complaint is that this friend stole the lavender satchet...which is a wrong I intend on bringing justice to soon... P.S - My friend wants to publicly recognize our new best-buddy, Jennifer, for getting it out in time to surprise me
Because I love the way I feel when I wear my Rough Linen robe, I bought one for my daughter-in-law for Mothers Day. She was thrilled. Her sister had bought sheets from Rough Linen and gave rave reviews so my DiL was happy to be able to try out one of the products, too. As always, the service was excellent and the packaging was very special. The lavender sachet is such a fine little luxury.
I am a male, 6-feet tall, and 180 lbs. My normal top sizing is in between a medium and a large, however the large for this is entirely too big - I can fit another person inside the robe with me. I’m able to wrap the left side across my entire front and then do the same with the right side and then I can’t access any pockets. I don’t know if the Medium would be better for me, but since it says small I fear it may not. Another thing that surprised me was the weight of the linen. It’s terrific but not as light / weightless as I had imagined it would be. I may try to see if this can be tailored, otherwise I’ll have to return it until I can gain 50 pounds. Hope you are able to figure out sizing!
